Meet our graduates! I love receiving photos from my owners! Perseus, now Sushi with Ragnar, now Llewelyn from Ursula and Gandalf's February 2022 litter. Sushi is a whopping 16 pounds at 1 year!
This is a sad and devastating update. A virus went through the kittens, and we lost Carina, Lyra, Orion and Phoenix. We are beyond crushed by this loss and for the loss to the families that lost their furever baby. Perseus is home and doing well. The Metropolitan Veterinary Emergency hospital gets major kudos from us from their caring, compassion and thoroughness of care.
About the virus: The virus that went through out litter was the feline panleukopenia virus (FP). It is because of this virus that we breeders do not allow visitors to our kittens before they are vaccinated.
What is feline panleukopenia? Feline panleukopenia (FP) is a highly contagious viral disease of cats caused by the feline parvovirus. Kittens are most severely affected by the virus. This virus does not infect people.
The feline parvovirus infects and kills cells that are rapidly growing and dividing, such as those in the bone marrow, intestines, and the developing fetus. Because the FP virus is everywhere in the environment, virtually all kittens and cats are exposed to the virus at some point in their lives. While cats of any age may be infected with the feline parvovirus that causes FP, young kittens are most susceptible.
